Hooray for consumerism!
Today’s task is installing my new laptop, and yes it will probably take me all day. I almost bought a shiny new one, but then I found a nice, small laptop with the computing power I need second hand. I like subverting the consumerism paradigm – and I saved myself a lot of money :-).
I love the promise that a new computer holds. This one will have a neat and tidy file structure that’s easy to backup. I will regularly run my virus scans and backup. I won’t install all those programs that I’ve used once and never used again. When I test a program I’ll put it in a sensible place and it will be straightforward to get rid of it when I want to.
Anyhoo! Sitting around copying files from one place to another, remembering passwords and installing software awaits.
